Greenville High falls to Hillcrest, 19-18

Greenville's Tigers played a hard game Friday night, but came up short in the forth quarter and take the loss 19-18 against Hillcrest-Evergreen.

The first points came from Hillcrest's LaChaon Moore who ran 19 yards with 6:38 left for the first score.

The PAT was good.

Late in the second quarter, Hillcrest's Kevin Fluker punched the ball in for another six.

Fluker's two yard run came with 7:42 in the half.

The PAT failed, but Hillcrest led 13-0.

Hillcrest came up with another quick score before the half.

Derrick Rogers ran ten yards for six points.

The two-point conversion failed.

As the first half saw Hillcrest scoring, the second half belonged to Greenville.

With 2:23 left in the third quarter, Jeremy Womack caught a 21 yard pass from Jacoby Thagard for Greenville's first score.

The point after kick was good and the score stood 19-7.

Almost two minutes later, Carlos Carter caught a 35 yard pass from Samuel Williamson for another six.

The PAT failed and Greenville pulled to within seven.

Again striking quickly, with 10:33 left in the game Terry Hawkins ran 18 yards for Greenville's final score.

The PAT failed and the Tigers were one point away.

Hillcrest did their best to run the clock out, but Greenville got another chance with a little more than two minutes left in the game.

Pinned deep around their own 20 after Hillcrest's punt, Greenville's QB threw an interception.

Greenville would not get the ball back, even though they did keep Hillcrest from another score.

The game ended with Hillcrest up 19-18.

the Tiger's put up nine first-downs, and Hillcrest 15.

The determining number, however, was Greenville's three turn-overs when Hillcrest had only one.

The Greenville Tigers will host Monroeville in their last regular season game next Friday night.
