Runoff gives us chance to ask further questions

To many, Labor Day weekend is the last chance of the year to head to the beach and stay an extra day.

We urge travelers to take extra precautions on the road this weekend. The Department of Public Safety expects 11 people to be killed in traffic wrecks on state roads from 6 p.m. Friday until midnight Monday. When you consider that of the nine that died during the same period last year, five were not wearing seatbelts and two were alcohol related, many of the predicted deaths can be avoided.

Troopers will have an increased presence during the weekend on the more popular routes, in an effort to slow down speeders and reckless drivers.
