4H winners announced; army worms in county

Butler County youth won 3rd place at the State 4-H Forestry Judging Contest June 12-13.
The participants in the Forestry Judging Program from Butler County were
team members:
Andrew Allen Godwin, Jonathan Duke, Adrian Johnson and Jake Newton.
The alternates were Bryan Parrish and Hayden Duke.
The competition consisted of tree identification, tree measurement (to determine board feet in a plot), and compass/traverse (to determine direction and distance from one point to another.
Working with the youth were Paul Hudgins and Steve Perdue of the Alabama Forestry Commission.
