Butler County schools can only profit from the "Second Step" curriculm. The lessons, designed to reduce children's impulsive and aggressive behavior and increase the level of social competence through empathy training, interpersonal problem solving, behavioral skill training and anger management, have already been in effect from kindergarten through the fourth grade with excellent results. In today's violent society, it is encouraging to see the school system trying to help our community's children. If the program saves just one child from the violence of others or him or herself, then the program has been beneficial to all.
