Greenville Gymnastics team wins eighth place at Sports Xtreme Invitational

The Greenville Gymnastics level four girls' team competed at the third annual Sports Xtreme Invitational in Mobile on Feb. 12-13.

The team squared off against the top gymnasts in Alabama and top notch gymnasts from Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana.

The three girls who made the trip to Mobile to compete were Beth Anne Autrey, Kelsie Moody and Suzanne Smyth. As a result, the three girls brought home some ribbons and an eighth place team trophy.

In the eight-year-old age group, Autrey scored a 7.95 on the vault giving her a 10th place finish. On the bars, she scored an 8.60 for an eighth place medal. Autrey scored a 7.40 on the balance beam and scored an 8.10 on the floor routine.

Autrey's all around score was 32.05.

Moody and Smyth competed in the 10-year-old age group.

Moody scored a 7.45 on the vault, an 8.05 on the uneven bars, 8.25 on the balance beam and floor routine.

Her all around score was a 32.00.

Smyth made a score of 7.70 on the vault, 6.35 on the uneven bars, 7.60 on the balance beam and an 8.35 on the floor routine. Her all around score of 32.00 was good enough for an eighth place medal.

To calculate the score for team placement, the top three scores of each event are added together giving a team its score.

Autrey, Smyth and Moody recorded a combined team score of 94.05. The score was high enough for an eighth place team finish at the Sports Xtreme Invitational.
