Administrator and CEO Tom McDougal announced recently the appointment of Vicki Golden to the position of director of community relations for the hospital.
Golden comes to Greenville from Alexander City where she was employed as a speech pathologist with Restore Therapy. Prior to that assignment, Golden worked for the Hillsborough County School
system near Tampa, Fla.
She holds a bachelor of arts and a master of science in speech pathology from The University of Alabama.
Golden's responsibilities at the hospital will be in the area of marketing and
community, media
and patient relations.
"A large part of my job is acting as a patient advocate," Golden said. "I visit every patient admitted and try to find out if they are receiving the type of care they need. If there is a problem, my job is to correct it."
Golden said she is looking forward to working with the staff at Stabler.
"I think it (Stabler) is a wonderful organization full of fine physicians and nurses," she said. "Everyone has gone out of their way to make me feel welcome."
Aside from her duties at the hospital, Golden is also a member of the Camellia City Junior Women's Club, The American Cancer Society and volunteers for the March of Dimes.
"I really enjoy living in this community," Golden said. "Everyone has been very friendly and they have made my family feel welcome. It has been very easy to get involved."
The Monroeville native is married to Jerry Golden, a pharmaceutical sales person for Johnson and Johnson. They have two sons, two-year-old Michael and 16-month-old Mathew.
