Keep the spirit after holidays

After months of shopping to find the perfect gifts, the day has finally arrived that makes it all seem worthwhile and makes us wish Christmas was still another week away so we could enjoy the season for a few more days.

There is no doubt that there is a lot of time, work and effort that comes with the holidays. But, now we can all sit back and admire as the most important people in our lives share with each other in the true spirit of Christmas. We can all enjoy as the members of our youngest generation crawls under the tree to find the package they want to open first and to watch the expression on their face when they realize that Santa brought them exactly what they had wanted.

But, when the fancy dinner has been consumed and the tree looks naked without the grand display of wrapped packages, the spirit of Christmas will live on anytime that a kind deed is done by one person to help another, no matter what time of the year it is. Many feel that today's society is too commercial and selfish, but the truth is there are thousands, if not millions, random acts of kindness every day. Those acts may be perceived as gifts, whether intended or not, to the Higher Power that bestowed upon all of us the greatest gift of all.

So, let's not let the spirit of Christmas end just because the holiday will soon be over. Let us continue to share with each other the gift of kindness from this Christmas Day forward.

Merry Christmas to everything from all of us at The Advocate.
