Guest speaker at Kiwanis on Tuesday was Joe B. Davis, an Opp native who works with the Alabama Department of Homeland Security. His discussion focused on what the state has done to prepare Alabama in the event of a terrorist attack or other disaster situation, natural or manmade. Having grown up in Opp, Davis said he didn’t think “too kindly” of Greenville because when Opp High School and Greenville High played football, the Tigers always had “tough and mean” players. However, an avid golfer, he said he changed his tune once Cambrian Ridge Golf Course opened. “It’s just such a beautiful place,” he said. Butler County EMA and Kiwanis member Bob Luman sponsored Davis as Tuesday’s speaker.
