Jacquez Payton racked up 20 points and Richard Boggan tacked on 15 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Panthers to victory, but the duo were hardly alone in the scoring department.

GMS 31, Highland Home 25

The Greenville Middle School Boys JV basketball team earned their fourth win of the season against the Highland Home Flying Squadron 31-25.

“The Jr. High Tigers prepared very hard for this game,” said Coach Gary Lett.

“We put pressure on the ball on every possession.  We did a good job forcing turnovers, contesting shots inside the paint and rebounding.  We will continue to work on the fundamentals.”

Tyjarvious Bedgood led the Tigers with 15 points.

Jabez Sims finished the game with eight points, and Greg McConnico and Jarvarious McCall added six and two points respectively.

Lett added that though his team performed well offensively, he was most proud of the way they competed with a high-caliber opponent.

“I’m very proud of our players–Highland Home is a very competitive and defensive team,” Lett said.

“They did a great job offensively and defensively, and I wish them the best of luck throughout the season.  I would like to thank the community, fans, parents and Butler County support staff for all of their support.”
