Severe weather expected tonight

Weather forecasters are warning that there is a high possibility of intense thunderstorms tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Crenshaw County for tonight.

A weather statement issued from the NWS said, “very isolated thunderstorms will develop once again in the heat of the day generally along the I-10 corridor in the afternoon. The main threat will be lightning and wind gust to 45 mph after 3 p.m.”

Local forecasters predict the biggest threat to occur between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m., and that the storms have the potential to produce wind in excess of 60 mph.

Straight-line winds and hail are potential threats.
