Georgiana wins Dothan Turkey Classic
The Georgiana Panthers varsity boys’ basketball team won the inaugural Dothan Turkey Classic Tournament held at the Dothan Civic Center last Monday and Tuesday.
In round one, the Panthers beat the Lafayette Bulldogs 70-55.
Amari Feagin scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Josh Sims scored 14 points, and Tremari Longmire scored thirteen with eight assists.
The Panthers then took on the Cottonwood Bears in the semifinals. The game ended with another win for the Panthers with a final score of 58-52.
Jacob Lowery scored eighteen points. Amari Feagin scored eleven points and Nasir Cheatham scored ten.
The Panthers faced the Andalusia Bulldogs in the finals. That game also ended in a win for the Panthers with a final score of 72-59.
Freshman Nasir Cheatham scored 22 points for the Panthers with 10 rebounds. Tremari Longmore scored 21 points. Amari Feagin 13 points with eight rebounds and four blocks. Zack Boggan scored ten points.
Amari Feagin, Josh Sims, and Tremari Longmire were named to the All-Tournament Team, and Feagin was also named MVP.
The Panthers were awarded the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic open spot. The event is held in December.
The Panthers sit at 3-0 for the season following the tournament.
