BOE candidates to interview for vacancy Saturday

The six candidates vying to replace Johnny Lee as District 5 representative on the Butler County Board of Education will be interviewed this Saturday, Nov. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Central Office Boardroom on Oglesby Street.

Following alphabetical order, Mickey Jones will be the first candidate at 9 a.m.; Thomas Lowery, at 9:30 a.m.; Rebecca Oikle at 10 a.m.; Sherri Paige at 10:30 a.m.; Darrell Sanders at 11 a.m. and Robert Wasden at 11:30 a.m.

“Our plan is for biographical information to be shared about each candidate, an interview conducted and an opportunity given for them for them to state why they believe they should be chosen for this position,” said Pete Hamilton, board attorney.

Lee, who resigned from his seat in September, will officially vacate his office at the Nov. 18 regular board meeting. The board hopes to have his replacement chosen before that date.

The interviews are open to the public and the BOE urges citizens to attend and hear what the candidates have to say.
