The Oscars isn’t the only awards show happening this time of year. On March 31, the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 13TH annual Membership Banquet and Awards Ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Wendell Mitchell Conference Center on the campus of LBW Community College.

Tracey Salter, executive director of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, said, “We always have between 210 and 220 people show up.We are right on par for attendance this year.”

Due to COVID-19, the event was not held last year, but ticket sales so far this year are at 220.

The Chamber is presenting two new awards this year: the Unsung Hero Award for non-profit/volunteer organizations or individuals; and the Milestone Award for companies and organizations who have demonstrated perseverance and achieved longevity in their business.

The Citizen of the Year, Spirit of Greenville, John D. Murphy, New Business of the Year for 2021 and 2022, Large Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, and Distinguished Business of the Year awards are traditional awards presented at the event.

The Citizen of the Year is not announced until the award is presented the night of the banquet setting anticipations high.

One of the biggest draws to this event is the catering. This year, King’s Table Catering out of Montgomery will cater the event.

Ticket sales are now closed for the event and no tickets will be available at the door.
