James Mack Jones Sr., 89, a resident of Georgiana, died Monday, April 13, 2009 after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 from Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Randy Harvill officiating and Johnson Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from July 1941 to September 1945 with the 8th Air Corps in England. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Ewing and Fannie Lou Jones; son, David Glenn Jones; brothers, Sprite Jones, Lister Jones and Sam Jones, and grandson James Joseph Jones. Survivors include sons, James M. (Stephanie) Jones Jr., Fall Brook, Calif. And Thomas Ewing (Jessica) Jones of Havelock, N.C.; sisters, Deana Jones and Bobbye Burkett, both of Georgiana; brothers, Joe Paul Jones and Wayne Jones, both of Georgiana and six grandchildren, Alex Anthony, Mollie, Christina, James III and Catherine. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund or ones’ favorite charity.
