William Bythwood (Bob) Scott

William Bythwood (Bob) Scott, of Prattville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Neal Scott of Biloxi, Mississippi.  Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on December 24, 1939, Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Helen M. Scott; children, Emalyn Scott Clark of Prattville, John Duane Scott (Cindy) of Millbrook and Derek Scott (Casie) of Montgomery; stepsons, Craig Greer (Rhonda) of Sitka, Alaska and Larry Greer (Kathleen) of Birmingham; and grandchildren, Ellery Scott, Emma Scott, Benjamin Greer, Ansley and Will Greer.  He is also survived by his mother, Opal Scott Dudley of Greenville/Wetumpka, sisters Wimberley Burton (Larry) of McKenzie and Alyce Stuart (Ronald) of Deatsville and brother, John Lloyd Scott (Jeannie) of Mobile as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bob was a 1958 graduate of Greenville High School and served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1962. He graduated from Auburn University in 1966 with a degree in Forestry Management and was a lifelong land surveyor as well as a real estate developer. Bob was active in numerous civic organizations over the years, served as President of the Alabama Jaycees in 1973 and was most recently involved in the Alabama Tea Party movement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Millbrook, Alabama where he co-taught the Friendship Sunday School class.

Even in his death, Bob’s generous nature lives through his desire to have his body donated to the pursuit of science at UAB’s School of Medicine. Family and friends are invited to attend Bob’s memorial service on Friday, December 2 at 11 am at Millbrook First United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve MacInnis and Pastor June Jernigan officiating.
