Annie Zeigler, candidate for the Crenshaw County District 5 Board of Education, is a graduate of Luverne High School and a member of the Helicon Missionary Baptist Church.

She also sings in the Adult Choir and serves on the Trustee Board.

“I have always been an advocate for helping children to learn,” Zeigler said, “and understanding the importance of a good education as the foundation for being successful.  I’m a product of the Crenshaw County School system.”

Zeigler said, “after numerous conversations with many people, children as well, I knew without a doubt this is where my experience with young people of all walks of life, can make a difference, for our children of today.” 

Zeigler served in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant for four years, and afterwards served in the USAF Reserves for four additional years.

“I want to assist our students in understanding the value of an education and ensure our schools are providing the proper foundation for our students to be prepared for life.  Our children need goals set at the board room table,” Zeigler explained.

Zeigler has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science from Livingston University. 

“I look forward to the opportunity of working with other board members, staff, and educators in providing our students with the necessary tools to succeed. With community involvement, we can work together to grow Crenshaw County Public Schools into an exemplary school system.”

Zeigler retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after serving for twenty-six years as a Case Manager. 

She is also secretary for the Helicon District Association, consisting of ten churches.

  “Our children should be encouraged to learn and motivated to achieve their goals in life.  For we know that every employee in the school system has an impact on our children. I know that parental involvement in the educational process has a profound effect on our student’s achievement and discipline,” Zeigler said.

“I appreciate your support for my candidacy on June 5, 2018, for Board of Education of District 5, Crenshaw County,” Zeigler said.
