Troopers I.D. man shot on I-65

State law enforcement has identified the man killed during an incident on I-65 involving Alabama State Troopers as 59-year-old John

McCullough, of Bay Minette.

Funeral services for McCullough were held on Monday. He is survived by his wife, Rosanne McCullough of Bay Minette; sons and daughters-in-law, John Calin and Kelly McCullough of McKenzie and William Ryan and Sonia McCullough of Grady, and six grandchildren.

Law enforcement stopped McCullough on Thursday after a 10-mile chase on I-65, said officials, and when a trooper approached the vehicle,

McCullough accelerated, knocking the trooper to the ground.

Troopers opened fire on the vehicle, killing McCullough, said Trooper John Reese, public information officer.

The injured trooper, still yet to be identified, was transported to the Evergreen hospital where he has since been released, said officials. – Staff Reports
