The family owned and operated Bush’s Bar-B-Que is coming to Crenshaw County.

It wasn’t ties to Crenshaw County that led Brantley resident Bryon Bush to choose Rutledge for his second restaurant. He was driven by the prime location of the former Hook’s BBQ, at the corner of Hwy.10 and Hwy. 331.

Bush opened his first restaurant in the former Hook’s BBQ building in Greenville in July of 2014.

“It’s a great location, mostly because of the traffic,” Bush said of the Rutledge location. “Hook’s did pretty well here.”

Due to the new expansion Bush said he will need to hire additional employees at both locations.

“Probably two more people in Greenville and six to seven in (Rutledge),” said Bush. “I’ll be in both of the restaurants so I’ll have to hire people.”

He is currently accepting applications for both locations at the Greenville restaurant.

The Bush family has spent the last few weeks cleaning and gutting out the new restaurant.

“It’s going to look totally different,” said Georgia Bush, Bryon’s mother.

The wood walls will still be there, but a metal border will line the walls. An electrician spent this week planning the lighting scheme, which will include a few pendant lights. There will be booths inside and eventually, a few tables outdoors.

Georgia Bush said a large table, seating about eight, will sit near the front door. Dubbed the “Liar’s Table,” tall tales will be welcome.

The new restaurant will take at least another month before it is up to Bush’s standards. To sample the menu, Bryon Bush recommended a visit to his Greenville location.
