CCA Cougars look forward to ‘reset’

The Cougars haven’t had a home game since mid-December and the road has been rough on them.

“We haven’t done so well,” said head coach John Hii.

Illnesses and injuries during the Christmas break took its toll on the boys team and the girls are on a five-game losing streak. But that’s all behind CCA as they begin area play Friday night at home.

By the end of next week, those who play in the finals will be determined. Hii told his teams the area games are like a “reset” button for the season.

“We played on Monday. When came back on Monday, I told the teams the season really starts today. It doesn’t matter if you’re 10-0 or 5-5. It doesn’t matter.”

The best part of the “reset” is the teams get to start Friday in better shape and with more knowledge of the game.

“Since the beginning of the year both teams are definitely in better shape,” Hii said. “We know the game. We just have to take failures and learn from them … and not look at them as failures.”
