The two parked police cars, a 2010 Dodge and a 2010 Ford, were unoccupied when Drew allegedly struck them, according to State Trooper Kevin Cook. Drew was driving a 1999 Saturn. A wreck involving a Highland Home robbery suspect shut down Highway 331 Friday night. The wreck occurred at around 8:30 p.m.

“The wreck was involved with the chase,” said Mike Johnson, an investigator with the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office.

The strong-arm robbery took place at a Highland Home service station. The suspect injured the station’s cashier during the incident.

Law enforcement tracked down the suspect and a chase ensued. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle hit two Luverne police cars. Johnson said there were no injuries.

“And the suspect is in custody,” he added.

The suspect’s name has not been released and the roadway has reopened.
