Effie McSwain Traweek, 107, died peacefully on Dec. 9 at her daughter’s home in Greenville, Ala. She was born on June 6, 1906, in Moss, Miss., to Charles and Druzilla McSwain, the youngest of 10 children. She is survived by her daughter, Myralyn Watson; granddaughters Clare Watson and Traweek Watson; and grandson William Watson and his wife Courtney and their two daughters, Hannah and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell John Traweek, in 1947; her parents; and her four brothers and five sisters. She was a lifelong, faithful member of Union Seminary Baptist Church, teaching the Women’s Adult Sunday School Class for more than 40 years, until at age 95 she moved to Greenville to live with her daughter. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at Union Seminary Baptist Church in Laurel, Miss.
