Marjorie Hickman Hughes, age 92, a resident of Opelika, Ala., and former resident of Greenville, Ala., died on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Kopp officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hughes was born on May 23, 1920 in Crenshaw County Alabama to Pluma Swanner and Rudolphus Algie Lee. On June 10, 1939 she married Gerald Nix Hickman. After his death she married Austile Hughes.  Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death  by her son, John William Hickman. She is survived by her son, Joseph Gerald (Sandra F.) Hickman of Greenville, Ala., daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Kuykendall of Opelika, Ala., grandchildren, Stacie Deanne Whitbeck (Dr. M. Gordon) of Pittsford, N.Y., John Gerald Hickman of Boca Raton, Fla., Jennifer Lynne Craig of Andover, Minn., Kathy Kuykendall (Johnny W.) Elrod of Dillon, S.C., Dr. Ira Dan (Meredith B.) Kuykendall of Auburn, Ala., Dee Hickman (James Frank) Blackmon of Greenville, Ala., great-grandchildren, Andrew John Whitbeck, Elizabeth Jacqueline Whitbeck, Jessica Louise Hickman, John William Hickman, Caleb Fritz, Mikaela Ruth Craig, Maggie Elizabeth Elrod, Jackson Enoch Elrod, Emory Blanton Kuykendall, Elizabeth Marie Kuykendall “Libby”, Nicholas Aaron Blackmon, Abby DeeAnn Blackmon, Lara Elizabeth Blackmon (Lara Beth), great-great grandchild, Harley Nathaniel “Nathan”, sister Edna Ruth Norsworthy of Luverne, Ala. and daughter-in-law, Suzanne J. Hickman of Atlantis, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Jo Ann Yancey and Dale Yancey.
