Petrey named vice chairman of CBAA

William Petrey was recently named vice chairman and treasurer of the Community Bankers Association of Alabama (CBAA).

Petrey has served as the president and CEO of First Citizens Bank in Luverne since 2003. He was named executive vice president of the bank in 1995.

A 1980 graduate of the University of Alabama in business and marketing, he began his banking career at First Citizens Bank as a loan officer in 1988. From 1992 to 1993 Petrey served as the first president of CB2000, a division of CBAA later called the Leadership Community Bankers division. He is a 1994 graduate of the graduate school of banking at Louisiana State University.

Petrey served for 20 years on the Industrial Development Authority in Luverne, including six years as chairman, and has been a member of the local Rotary Club since 1988, serving as its president in 1992. He is also financial chairman of the United Methodist Church in Luverne.

Based in Montgomery, the Community Bankers Association of Alabama represents approximately 110 member banks employing more than 5,500 individuals in nearly 600 locations across the state. A member-driven organization, CBAA serves as a legislative advocate for these banks at the state and federal levels. In addition to its ongoing efforts in the arena of governmental affairs, CBAA provides continuing education opportunities throughout the year for the professional development of its members. CBAA is governed by a board of directors comprised of independent community bankers.
