Durwood Bruce Moody, a resident of Montgomery, went to his eternal home on Friday, June 21, at the age of 76.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, beginning at 1 pm at St. Paul Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Greenville with Dunklin Funeral Home directing.
Durwood was born at home in Crenshaw County and raised in Greenville. He was a jack of all trades but was most known for his beautiful tile work. He was very artistic, and his favorite hobby was building the most amazing Victorian doll houses, giving careful attention to even the smallest detail. He was a loving, funny and compassionate person and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Eleanor Thaggard Moody and Calvin Claude Moody, his sister, Mildred Ann Moody Holladay and his beloved best friend and partner of 40 years, William Thomas Smith.
He is survived by his niece Sarah Ann Holladay and great nephew, Atlas Mark Conatser and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to his faithful caregiver, Casey Gay, who was by his side for over three years, through thick and thin caring for his mind, body and soul. We appreciate everything that she and hospice did for him, especially in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice organization.
