Lt. Col. William Fred Jernigan, Jr. (Ret.) age 76, of Greenville, formerly of Tyler, Texas, died peacefully with his loving and devoted wife by his side on Saturday, May 4. Graveside services were held on Monday, May 13, beginning at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Dunklin Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jernigan is preceded in death by his son, Carl Wayne Jernigan; parents, William Fred Jernigan, Sr. and Thelma Irene Gentry Jernigan. He is survived by his wife, Joi Rogers Jernigan; children, Joshua Cannon, Mary Susan (Easton) Downey and Elisabeth Cannon; beloved grandsons, Elijah Downey and Wyatt Downey; honorary grandson, Hunter Mapes; sisters, Peggy (Raymond) Tucker and Patsy (Dave) Clarke; nieces and nephews, Gayle Yeiser (Scott) Wunch, Douglas Yeiser, Bart (Glenda) Armstrong and Teri (Lyle) Agnew, along with many adored great and great-great nieces and nephews.
