Arrival, a Nashville-based arena rock band, is set to rock The Ritz Theater on June 8 at 7 p.m. The group, known for its high-energy concert performances, specializes in delivering iconic rock anthems from the 80s, covering hits from bands like Journey, Styx, Nightranger, Toto, and Foreigner.

Paul Herring, the group’s drummer and vocalist, views the performance at the Ritz is a personal homecoming.

“I’m from Georgiana and graduated from Fort Dale,” Herring said. “I grew up going to movies at the Ritz. So this is coming home. We played at the Georgiana Opry a few years ago and I was in a country band that used to play at the Hank Williams festival.”

According to Herring, Arrival has been performing together for three years. Originally a Journey tribute band, their performance at a show in Savannah, Georgia inspired band members to expand their repertoire.

“We were out in Tybee Island playing and it was packed. It was like everyone was transported to that time,” Herring said. “It was so nostalgic, and we wanted to do that—to give the crowd that ‘back in time’ experience.

“You can go see a cover band anywhere. We wanted to recreate the full concert experience. Plus, A lot of cover bands are playing in bars and places like that. We like to make it family-friendly so you can feel comfortable bringing the little ones.”

For Jeff Randolph, Arrival’s bass player and a lifelong resident of Nashville, music has always been a part of his life. Beginning to play at age 9 and touring with a gospel quartet at only fifteen, Randolph’s musical journey started early.

“Growing up in a very musical family, it just seemed like the natural path to take,” Randolph said. “I enjoy all types of music, and I’ve played a little bit of everything.”

Randolph emphasized the importance of camaraderie among the band members and their genuine love for the music.

“It’s the guys. Everyone gets along. There are no egos involved,” Randolph said. “We want to play and have fun and make memories, and we’re all on the same page. It’s a great group of guys, and I love playing with them.”

“Anyone who comes out to the show is guaranteed to have a good time. It’s just great music—music that stands the test of time,” Randolph said.
