Lace up your running shoes and join in on the My Cancer Hero 5K race on May 4, to honor all cancer heroes. The event, hosted by local State Farm agent Abbie Gardner Ballew, will take place at Fort Dale Academy’s football field, with all parking conveniently located in front of the school. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and follow the signs to the race area.

Registration for the run is $25, with the race set to start promptly at 8 a.m. Day-of registration will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. and closing at 7:50 a.m. The last day to order a shirt is April 19.

“This event is a way to honor those that have passed and those that are still fighting,” said Ballew. “Every runner will receive a shirt with their hero’s name on the back, allowing them to run in remembrance and support.”

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, supporting their mission to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
