As we embark on the 26th year of our journey at Healthy Kids, we are filled with gratitude for the unwavering support of our community. In celebration of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month this April, we are proud to present our 2024 campaign, “Stronger Together, Supporting Safe Childhoods.” This initiative reaffirms our commitment to the well-being of Alabama’s children, offering a beacon of hope and a pathway to a brighter future. 

Your partnership in this campaign enables us to continue providing essential services and programs that have a profound impact on the lives of children and families. Together, we can sustain and expand our efforts in education, community outreach, and prevention initiatives, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for every child. 

Highlighted Programs 

* Healthy Kids Excel – A parent support program aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect by equipping parents and communities with the necessary tools and education to foster strong families. 

* Home Visitation Programs – Utilizing the Parents as Teachers Model, we provide support and resources for parents to encourage optimal early childhood development. 

* First Steps Early Child Development Center – A 5-star program offering high-quality early childhood education, focusing on comprehensive development in a nurturing environment. 

* First Class Pre-K  – A nationally acclaimed Pre-K program providing tuition-free education for eighteen 4-year-olds, enhancing early learning and development. 

* Child Adult Care Food Program – Supporting child care providers in 14 counties with training and resources to offer healthier meals, addressing food insecurities and childhood obesity. 

* First Steps to Success Scholarship Program – This year, we are excited to introduce the “First Steps to Success” Scholarship Program, designed to support the higher education aspirations of 2 outstanding First Steps Graduates. Each scholarship, valued at $1,000, aims to provide financial assistance for tuition, books, and other educational expenses, fostering the academic and career ambitions of our young learners.

* April 1-30: Every Friday in April, show your support by wearing the Healthy Kids for Kids t-shirt. 

* April 6 – 13: Week of the Young Child  

* April 26: Healthy Kids for Kids Parade & Trike Parade  

* April 28:Blue Sunday
