An Editorial Opinion of The Greenville Advocate

Recently we asked communities to help us feature local heroes. In a social media post we asked readers to tell us about people in the area who represent all that is good about rural Alabama.

Rising to the challenge, followers responded with over 60 suggestions of folks, everyday men and women, who are doing good things, helping their neighbors and caring for their communities.

We are grateful for so many people — police officers, fire fighters, elected officials, teachers, business owners, support staff and many others — who are worthy of recognition. We are even more thankful for the ones who recognize these people and take the time to say, “Thank you for what you do.”

Our editorial staff looks forward to hearing from you about community members deserving a pat on the back. Keep the suggestions coming. In reality, we hope there are so many nominations that we can never write them all because this lets us know our communities are doing all the right things, fostering honesty, professionalism and a servant’s heart in our young people and taking the time to thank the role models who set the best examples for our children.

To suggest a local hero for an upcoming feature, email the individual’s name, contact information and what they are doing to deserve our thanks to news@greenvilleadvocate.com.
