Georgiana Panthers secure victory against Florala Wildcats

Update: On Feb. 19, the Georgiana Panthers boys’ varsity basketball team secured their spot in the “Final 4” by securing a 74-55 victory against the McIntosh Demons.

 

In a thrilling first-round playoff match on Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Georgiana Panthers faced off against the Florala Wildcats at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, ultimately securing a commanding 81-55 victory in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) playoff game.

Coach Kirk Norris expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their dedication and hard work.

“Defensively, we played very well,” Norris commented. “We established a strong lead by halftime and maintained our intensity throughout. Maintaining focus is crucial in playoff games, and I am incredibly pleased with our execution.”

The Panthers competed on Feb. 19, against the McIntosh Demons in the second round of the regional tournament although results were unavailable at the time of press. Should the Panthers emerge victorious, they will advance to the final four in Birmingham on Monday, Feb. 26. The team’s continued success reflects their determination and skill, making them a formidable contender as they progress through the playoffs.
