Camellia Sweet Treats, a beloved ice cream and smoothie destination at 402 E. Commerce St. is expanding its offerings to include pizza delivery, starting Jan.16. Owner Chapman Simmons, who has been deliberating over this expansion while staying committed to Greenville, shared his thoughts on this new venture.

“Once we got everything going smoothly out here, we thought, ‘What do we want to do? Do we want to franchise or what?’,” Simmons said. “But we pretty much decided that we wanted to stay in Greenville, and Greenville needed pizza.”

The newly established Greenville Dough Company will operate from Camellia Sweet Treats’ Commerce Street location for the next few months before moving to its dedicated spot.

“We’ve been working for months on building out another restaurant, and we’ve still got a few more months to go,” Simmons said. “Then, a few weeks ago, we decided we’re just going to launch it here while we finish building over there.”

For the time being, orders can be placed daily from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through the company’s website, www.greenvilledoughco.com or DoorDash, which has been contracted for deliveries.

Maci Williams, longtime manager at Sweet Treats, expressed her confidence in the new venture’s success.

“Greenville needs more options, especially for pizza,” Williams said. “People ask us all the time to put some kind of food on the menu, so I think they’re going to love it.”

Residents like Marcus Anderson, who prefer locally made pizza over fast-food chains, are excited about this development.

“I’m not big on what I consider fast-food pizza, but my kids love pizza night,” Anderson said. “This will give us another choice, and it’s supporting a local business.”

With the launch of Greenville Dough Company, Camellia Sweet Treats is not only satisfying its customers’ sweet cravings but also their savory desires, bringing a new flavor to Greenville’s culinary landscape.
