The annual Greenville tree lighting and Christmas parade took place downtown in Confederate Park and along East Commerce Street on Dec. 5. Funnel cake and hot chocolate were for sale as community members huddled up around the large ceremony tree that came from Sherling Lake’s woods. Santa Claus posed for pictures in his sleigh before riding in the firetruck lift at the caboose of the parade. Candy lined the streets while every truck and trailer tossed fistfuls to cheering onlookers. The decorated trailers stopped in front of float judges in front of City Hall to see which entry encompassed the parade’s theme “Winter Wonderland” the best.
