The Butler County Sheriff’s Office was surprised with a generous donation of almost 50 Scentsy Buddies, made by local Scentsy independent consultant Amy Hallford and her customers. Hallford explained that a Scentsy Buddy is a stuffed animal with a scented pouch inside aimed to calm children’s nerves.

“When I was little, I loved stuffed animals,” Hallford said. “They were calming to me. I thought about children that are in scary situations and how a stuffed animal, especially with a calming fragrance, can help them. So, who better to give them to than the guys that deal with scary situations?”

These scary situations could be anything from a car wreck to a domestic violence incident. Hallford said that each Scentsy Buddy comes with a free scent pack of choice, with fragrances such as newborn nursery, blueberry cheesecake, clean breeze, baked apple pie and many more. There are a multitude of Scentsy Buddies available ranging from a variety of animals to beloved Disney and other cartoon characters.

Butler County Sheriff Danny Bond said the department plans to put a couple of buddies in each officer’s car.

“You never know when you’re going to have a situation that involves a child, and giving a child a Buddy can’t do anything but help them try to get through whatever incident they’re going through,” Bond said. “We’re very appreciative of Amy and her customers, they knocked it out of the ballpark.”

Hallford said Scentsy consultants host fundraisers regularly, and that the next one she hosts will be geared towards the Greenville Police Department. She posts on her personal Facebook page when she is collecting donations. Hallford said orders for donation can be placed through her at 334-437-3604 or at waxandtracks.com.
