Greenville gained a new addition to the charming community shops. Tayla & Pearl’s Attic Finds, a thrift store opened by Kimmie and Claude Plant, officially opened the store on Nov. 1 and held a ribbon cutting with Greenville Mayor Dexter McClendon and Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 7. The 14-booth store has three spots available to vendors, explained Kimmie.
The new shop was named after two of Plant’s special-needs cats that passed away recently, Tayla and Pearl. The thrift store opened to help finance the Plant’s cat rescue, Rescue Moms TNR (trap, neuter and release). The rescue is completely self-financed, and the Plants are floating plans for growth by the first of the year.
A 550-foot enclosure has been in the works at the rescue for two years, but with funding from proceeds of the new thrift store, rescuers can provide a safe, warm cat mansion for 70 felines. Tayla & Pears Attic Finds is located at 802 North Conecuh Street and can be reached by calling (334)371-5236.
