It’s almost time again for the annual Georgiana City Fest on Oct. 7, where artisan craft vendors, food, music, kids inflatables and a car show will come together at the Hank Williams Pavillion from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Kenneth Blackburn, Georgiana Water Department Supervisor, said three years ago he, along with a couple of other community members, came together with the desire to raise money for new Christmas decorations for Georgiana’s town center, and the success of the festival has made it an annual event.

“We’d love for everybody to come,” Blackburn said. “It’s free and we try to make it a family event. The bigger the crowd, the better, especially for the vendors. We can’t continue to have it unless people come out and support it. Also, our own Chief of Police Jeremy Peagler will be our DJ.”

Sherry Paige, Georgiana’s city clerk, said they’re excited to have something for everyone in the community.

“The mayor, Frank Betterton, set this free event in motion so that everybody was able to come together, fellowship and enjoy an evening of fun for kids and adults alike,” Paige said. “We wanted to have something in town that everybody could come to and not have to worry about being so costly, and still enjoy a day of food and fun for the kids. There will be a lot to see!”

Blackburn said this event would not be possible without Danny and Michelle Black, who made the T-shirts, the flyers and monitors the Facebook pages. Michelle has been in the hospital for a few weeks now and Blackburn said they are raising money for the couple. There will be a booth set up at the City Fest for them that Kenneth Newsome and Shirley Wittington will be attending.
