The Butler County Fair draws near and the excitement continues to build as community members join the multitude of fun events that will take place Sept. 27-30.

One of these events is The Spotlight talent show. Michelle Styron, the Entertainment Chairman of the Butler County Fair Association (BCFA), said organizers are proud to host the talent show this year.

“This is not the first ever talent show hosted by the BCFA, but it has been years since an event like this has taken place during the festivities of fair week,” Styron said. “Butler County has so much talent and we are hoping to highlight a sampling of it at the fair.”

The preliminary show will take place on Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. and the Final Spotlight show will be Sept. 30 beginning at 7 p.m. Three judges will have the ability to give a “golden buzzer” to participants who will automatically get to perform at the Final Spotlight show.

Contestants will be competing for the title and the top three prizes. The third place winner will receive $100, second place will win $200, and the winner of the Spotlight will take home $300.

Judith Oswald, a christian pop alternative singer and musician, is excited to be participating in the preliminary Spotlight talent show.

“I love when the community comes together to share the things that bring them joy,” Oswald said. “Singing and making music is that joy for me. This show will be a great way to discover new talent and enjoy Butler County’s hidden, or not so hidden, gems. I can’t wait!”

Talents featured in the show may include (but are not limited to) singing, dancing, instrumental music, skits, magic, comedy, martial arts, or juggling. Unique acts are appreciated and encouraged, said Styron. Participants must be ages five and older. There is no lip-syncing allowed.

All registration forms and accompanying music for the talent show must be submitted by Sept. 20. For registration forms, all talent show requirements, or for further questions contact Styron at michelle@camelliacom.com or call (334) 371-2000, Monday-Thursday between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
