Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By Jason Williams

No one knows a child like their mother. Mom knows when her baby is sick, when they are upset, or when they are trying to hide something.

My mother can always tell when somethings bothering me or even when I’m not being completely truthful with her. Mothers also always know instinctively when a child is ready to take a step forward in life and when just the right amount of encouragement is needed.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was no different, and even though we don’t know a lot about the life of Jesus from 12 to 30, we do know that as his ministry began, his mother Mary knew he was ready.

Mary had been told by an angel, before Jesus’s birth, of his purpose as the Messiah. She watched him grow and knew when he was ready to fulfill his purpose.

Beginning in John 2: 1-11, we see the story of Jesus’s first earthly miracle.

Jesus and his newly selected disciples attended a wedding along with Mary, his mother. As the wedding ceremony unfolded, the wine ,traditionally provided by the groom, ran out. This would cause the groom’s family great embarrassment.

Mary informed Jesus that the wine had run out. Jesus tells his mother not to involve him that his time has not yet come but even after Jesus tells Mary this she turns to the servants and tells them to do whatever Jesus tells them to do.

Jesus instructs the servants to fill six jars with water. He then tells the servants to draw the water out of the jars and take it to the one in charge of the banquet. The banquet organizers discover the water has turned to wine.

Mary knew Jesus was ready. Remember your mother is the one who knows you best and she believes in you even when you don’t believe in yourself.

Thank you to all the moms out there. Thank you for your prayers for your children and the lessons that have brought them to where they are today.

I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mother. Happy Mothers Day to all the moms and God bless.
