Shakeria Jones signed with Central Lakes Community College in Minnesota. She plans on majoring in welding. Jones has played basketball for two years at GHS. She is the daughter of Timmy Jones and Sonya Ambrose.

“These girls have worked hard for this moment,” SaRhonda Cheatham, GHS girls’ basketball coach, said.

Principal Jamie Howard gave a short speech before the young ladies signed their letters. In part, Howard said, “I know we’re not supposed to talk about God in school, so I’ll just say this based on my experience. When things go bad, pray. When things are good, pray. When things are great, pray. Ladies, as you walk through this new chapter into your destiny, as you take your first steps toward campus, just know, from personal experience, prayer works. What we expect from you, is for you to be the best version of yourself. I have always believed in you and I will always be here for you.”
