Property owners in Butler County who have not yet paid their property taxes run the risk of having their property auctioned off by the county if taxes are not paid by Feb. 28.

Deborah B. Crews, Butler County Revenue Commissioner, said as of Feb. 8 there is approximately $250,000.00 in outstanding property taxes that have yet to be paid by Butler County property owners.

Crews said delinquent tax notices were mailed Feb. 1 and those who have yet to pay their taxes will be charged a $5 late fee and have 2% interest added to the total amount due. The delinquent amount is good through Feb. 28. If still not paid by this date, probate notices will be mailed out which will include higher interest and additional late fees. The tax lien auction will be held April 19.
