Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Erma Morgan and sister, Patricia Bender of Greenville, AL. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Christine Phelps of Fort Deposit, AL. and two daughters, Melissa (Missy) Phelps Carlton and husband Gray of Fort Deposit, AL, and Shannon Phelps Griffin and husband Gregg of Montgomery, AL, two grandchildren, Phelps Griffin and Will Carlton. Doyle Bender, brother-in-law of Greenville, AL. Nieces Susan Rhodes of Greenville and Janet Bender of Montgomery, AL.
Curtis was a 1962 graduate of Greenville High School. He was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church of Fort Deposit where he was a member of the Koinonia Sunday school class. Curtis served on the volunteer rescue squad of Fort Deposit and was also a member of the Board of Directors for Fort Deposit Academy.
He founded and operated a furniture retail business in Hayneville, AL for 30 years.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 9 at Bethel Baptist Church.
Reverend Josh Price is officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home is directing.
