There’s going to be one more officer, added to the Butler County K-9 unit – Soni.
Soni is a German Shepherd who will be accompanied by her handler, David Scruggs – a deputy for the Butler County Sheriff’s office.
“We are really looking forward to utilizing Soni’s skills in our fight against illegal narcotics,” the Sheriff’s office said in a release.
K-9 unit dogs are specifically trained to assist either police or other law-enforcement personnel. Their duties can include: searching for drugs and explosives, locating missing people, finding crime scene evidence, and attacking people targeted by the police.
Most dogs have a working life of around six to nine years.
