I love forward to forging relationships here
BY ANDREW EDWARDS
Citizens of Luverne,
My name is Andrew Edwards and I will be covering all things in the City of Luverne for the Luverne Journal!
I am greatly looking forward to meeting people in your community, listening to your stories and letting those voices be heard.
Not only that, I can’t wait to forge relationships with the people of Luverne.
To me, a city is not just another beat – it’s an opportunity to get to know people on a personal level.
As for myself, I graduated from Prattville High School in 2013.
I competed on the debate team all four years that I was there, and during that time I had to write/present a variety of speeches. It was during that period that I truly discovered that writing was my passion.
I then attended the University of Alabama for two years before transferring to Auburn Montgomery. I graduated in the spring of 2019 from AUM with a bachelor in Communications and a minor in English.
While at AUM, I had the chance to write many different op-eds, feature stories and columns.
Many of the professors that I had set me up for success, and it was through their teaching that I was able to be where I am today.
I learned that, as a journalist, it’s important to make sure that we report stories in an accurate and timely manner.
Deadlines are extremely important, but retractions never sit well with anyone’s boss.
After college, I had to chance to work as a journalist in my hometown of Prattville. I worked for Elmore/Autauga News and was once again given all the tools that I needed to be successful. I covered a variety of events, ranging from city council meetings to high school football games.
The experience that I gained in the classroom and in the workforce has made me confident in my ability to cover Luverne in the same timely, accurate fashion that I strive to achieve! I’m looking forward to being in and around your city!
