Substation issues causing power outage in portions of Crenshaw County

Some 878 electric customers supplied by South Alabama Electric Cooperative are without power at  this time.

SAEC says they are currently experiencing an outage for members served by its Finley Hill (Luverne) substation.

Communities that are experiencing outages including those south of Luverne on Hwy. 331, Springhill, Mt. Ida, Old Brantley Luverne Hwy., Mt. Zion Community and Glenwood.

SAEC officials say that PowerSouth Energy Cooperative is in the process of restoring power with one of their mobile substations.

It is expected to take a few hours to make the changes and restore power.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience.”

The outage accounts for 14.4 percent of SAEC’s Crenshaw County customers.
