The 2nd annual DHR 5K and fun run will be held on Saturday, February 29, starting at the Luverne Country Club.
The “Run Your Heart Out” walk/run includes the 5K and a 1 mile fun run, with the 5K beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the fun run starting immediately after.
Forms are available for pre-registration on the “2nd Annual Run Your Heart Out” Facebook page or at the Crenshaw County DHR office at 25 Hospital Drive in Luverne. Registration can also be done on February 29, starting at 7 a.m.
Runners who pre-register on or before Friday, February 7 will also receive a t-shirt.
There will also be other attractions, including a rock wall and other activities provided by the National Guard, snacks from sponsor Ramey’s and more. Sister Schubert’s will also be giving rolls to the winner of the fun run.
The run, according to DHR representative Jennifer Butts, is centered around providing information on and promoting becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
“There a tremendous need for foster and adoptive parents in Alabama. There are approximately 6,400 in foster care in the state and over 300 waiting to be adopted,” she said.
Information on the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent will be on hand at the run.
Adult registration will be $25, while the fee for under 12 is $15.
For more information on registration or other questions, contact the Crenshaw County DHR at 334-335-7000.
