Mr. Gerald E. “Cowboy” Johnson, 78, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019. A graveside service for Mr. Johnson was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 30, in Brunson Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Travis Johnson and Rev. Frank Lowery officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Johnson was a successful and talented welder for much of his life. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors. He had a big personality and loved his family very much. He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Crowe Johnson, and his parents, John Ben and Willie Edna Campbell Johnson. He is survived by his son, John (Joan) Johnson; stepson, Kip (Teresa) Smith; five grandchildren, Mallorie (Jason) Chandler, Zane Johnson (Tessa Walker), Alecia (Chris) Jones, Christopher (Lindsey) Smith, and Rachael Moseley; nine great-grandchildren, Caleb, Cayden, and Marlee Chandler, Maddie Smith, J.J. Jones, Lilly Smith, Sarabeth Moseley, and Hadleigh & Harleigh Smith; and three siblings, Rita (Malcolm) Bradley, Rebecca Johnson, and J.B. Johnson Jr.
