A weekend stabbing in Butler County left a man dead and a woman behind bars.

Butler County Sheriff Danny Bond said the Saturday night incident resulted in murder charges for LaTonya Morea Owens, 39, of Greenville and stemmed from an incident on Pecan Road last Saturday night.  Bond identified the victim as Roderick Williams, 41, of Georgiana. Pecan Road is located off of Ridge Road near Manningham Road.

“We received a call around 7:30 p.m.,” Bond said. “When my officers got on the scene, they were able to locate a victim inside the residence. The victim appeared to have been stabbed and was deceased when they arrived.”

Bond said while the victim was apparently stabbed, they are waiting on an official forensics report to determine the exact cause of death.

“Apparently it was a domestic situation,” he said. “The offender was arrested on the scene and taken to the Butler County Correctional Facility.”

As of deadline Tuesday, no bond had been set for Owens as she had not appeared before the judge yet due to the Veterans Day holiday.

Bond said investigators were continuing to piece together what happened last Saturday night to lead to the death.

“We’ve still got some other folks we’re going to talk to,” Bond concluded. “The investigation is continuing.”
