Rev. Flint was born on December 27, 1940 in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

He earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Rutgers University, and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he worked in military intelligence.

While stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, he met and married the love of his life, Linda Thaggard, and together they raised two sons, Jarrett and Jud.

After the Army, Rev. Flint spent many years working in insurance as an agent, underwriter, and manager of several agencies.

In the 1980s, he and his family moved to Luverne, where he first worked as a general manager of T&B Motor Company.

Prior to retiring, he worked for approximately 15 years as the manager of security at Lockheed Martin in Troy, Alabama.

Rev. Flint found his true calling while living in Luverne, where he spent the past 36 years serving faithfully as a pastor, evangelist, church founder, and minister of the gospel.

His first pastorate was at Garland Baptist Church, and he was later the founding pastor at South Luverne Baptist Church.

He directed a vibrant home group ministry at Faithwalk Ministries, and he helped plant and served as the first senior pastor at Troy Vineyard Church (now known as The Vine).

After retiring from full-time ministry, he continued serving his Lord and Savior as a faithful elder and lay minister at Fountain of Life Church.

Rev. Flint and Rev. Keith Davis were devoted to their weekly ministry at the Crenshaw County Jail for more than a decade, while concurrently running a food pantry ministry at Fountain of Life Church, which to this day continues to disperse approximately one ton of food every month to the needy in Crenshaw County. Many have come to know the Lord through his ministry.

Two things mark his life: his love for his Savior and his love for his family–most particularly his wife, Linda, to whom his has been faithful to and passionately loved for over 51 years–in sickness and health.

His love for his family and his Lord–these are his legacy.

Rev. Flint was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Mabel Murray Flint, and his two brothers, Tom Flint and Fred J. Flint.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Thaggard Flint; their two sons, Jarrett Brooks (Elizabeth) Flint and Judson Thaggard (Becky) Flint; four grandchildren, Alex King, Matthew Flint, Morgan King, and Hannah Grace Flint; sister-in-law, Janice Norman; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Alex King, Matthew Flint, Morgan King, Andrew Kimbro, Brent Beck, and Ryan Gaines. Keith Davis, Jose Jimenez, and Roland Plaisance served as honorary pallbearers.
