Another opportunity to help local schools with much-needed supplies is coming to the Camellia City this weekend.
Helping Hands Professional Counseling and Consulting, Corp. is hosting the Butler County Back-to-School Supplies Campaign from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. this Saturday, July 20, at Safe Harbor’s Caldwell Street location in Greenville.
Karen Sullins of Helping Hands says she is excited to see local residents’ interest in supporting the children and youth of the community. She added that contributing to the donation drive is a great way to show that support.
“We want to help empower all our kids to soar, but they need the tools to do so,” Sullins said. “Some of them can use some extra help. We are asking businesses and residents to help us provide our county’s children with supplies like backpacks, pencils, paper, notebooks, rulers, pens, glue sticks…we can also use socks and even school uniforms. They are mandatory in our district and khakis, navy blue, white and red are the acceptable uniform colors, with all sizes welcome.”
With the state offering a tax-free holiday this weekend for back-to-school shoppers, Sullins says it is a prime opportunity to stock up on supplies to share with some of Butler County’s disadvantaged students.
“We are asking local citizens to ‘stock up and show up’ on Saturday morning at 107 Caldwell St., near the police station, to donate the supplies needed to help keep our children motivated to learn,” Sullins concluded.
