Mr. Willard Edward Bees, 90, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Funeral services for Mr. Bees were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Melvin officiating.
Interment followed in Faith Hill Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Bees proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Later, he and his beloved wife, Lonie, spent much of their time working as traveling missionaries to Mexico and other places where he played the guitar while she preached.
They also worked an outreach ministry with the prison system in Alabama.
They were warm, open-hearted people who lived a life of service to others.
Mr. Bees also worked as a mechanic for many years, and had a reputation for his ability to fix almost anything.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and his loving embrace will forever be missed by all those who knew him.
Mr. Bees was preceded in death by his parents, Willie C. and Margaret Bees, and eight siblings, Bennie Bees, Ellie Bees, Carlie Bees, Johnnie Ray Bees, Beland Bees, Beatrice Byrd, Allie Pittman, and Clodene Campbell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lonie Mae Edward Bees; their two children, LaNora (David) Noble and Lavon (Mary) Bees; four grandchildren, Jason Sullivan, Amanda Sullivan, Kristy (Aaron) McCurdy, and April (Jason) Pearce; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty (Ervin) Edwards.
Active pallbearers were Christopher McCraine, Chris McCraine, Earl Howard, Dylan Carter, Jackie Vickers, David Noble.
