Crenshaw County could experience heavy rain beginning today, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.
Crenshaw County EMA director Elliot Jones said on Wednesday that, according to the NWS, the limited risk areas, including Crenshaw County, could see between 3-5 inches of rain from Thursday until Sunday.
“Periods of heavy rain will start on Thursday and continue through Sunday. While the area has been arid over the past several weeks, we will have to monitor for the increased potential of flooding late in the week into the weekend as ground conditions become more saturated,” Jones explained.
NWS Mobile projects the heaviest rainfall to come south of Crenshaw County in the elevated risk areas. According to the NWS, the county is in an area with limited risk for flooding, although locally higher amounts are possible.
